Your Character has access to a variety of weapons. What you'll use, and how much you'll use them is up to you.
Weapon Mechanics
The Weapons Tab
The "Weapons" tab is part of the game interface. It shows all the weapons you currently have on you. You can have one weapon equipped by left-clicking on it. If the weapon is a firearm and you can fire it, equipping it will also bring up the ammo list and let you reload by left-clicking on some ammo.
Weapon Categories
Primary Weapons
You can have 1 or 2 primary weapons, usually a long weapon (such as a shotgun, rifle, or sniper rifle) or an openly carried gun, and possibly a concealed Crossbow. Aside from the crossbow, long weapons usually need to be concealed under a long coat such as the Desert duster to avoid being hassled by the local law. If you aren't wearing a long coat, you can store your long arms at a Living space if you have one. You can also retrieve long arms from a living space, but this costs 1 action and gives the Tooled Up quality.
Concealed Weapons
You can have an unlimited number of concealed weapons, though you can only equip one at a time. While concealed, you can't fire guns but can only use them to pistol whip people in combat (counting as non-lethal melee weapons). You can un-conceal them by right-clicking and selecting the "show" option, which converts the gun to a primary weapon. Hiding them again does not cost an action. Sawn-off shotguns are considered concealed weapons.
The Inventory Tab
In the "Inventory" tab, guns show up in a couple of different places:
- Unsorted Weapons: If you pick up random unidentified weapons, they show up in the "Sortable" tab. Left-clicking on an unsorted weapon lets you determine what specific type of weapon it is.
- Stock Guns: Sorted guns are visible as "Gun name"/stock. You can't directly use stock guns but can sell them or use them on other cards. You can also left-click a stock gun to convert it to a usable version ("concealed" for pistols/SMGs, "stored" for long arms).
- Bundled Weapons: At any time, you can drag any weapon to the bundler. This prepares it to be sold in shady deals. After a weapon is bundled, it cannot be unbundled.
Weapon Stats & Usage
Weapons have various stats, but two key ones are:
- Fear: This is how intimidating the weapon is when equipped. Certain cards require a minimum intimidation value.
- Skill Modifiers: These affect your skill checks. Knives often modify Skill/Silent kill, while guns modify Skill/Close range or Skill/Long range.
Various cards will require specific weapons to be equipped (e.g., a shotgun for guard duty, a rifle to hunt wild dogs). Selecting a weapon is usually a free action outside of chase scenes.
