    About Contacts

Contacts are specific people who Your Character knows. They may be part of Organizations, or just other people in Cinci, such as a teacher at a school or a local pimp. Contacts can give you information, items, or send you on storylines. They can also want information, items, or for you to complete storylines for them.

    Contact Ratings

Each contact has four key ratings that track your relationship with them:

    • Contact: This measures how well you know the person and how strong your connection is. Higher levels can unlock new interactions and opportunities.
    • Credit: Represents the social or professional capital you have with a contact. You can often "spend" Credit to ask for help or information.
    • Favours Owed: A measure of how indebted the contact is to you. Favors can be called in for significant assistance.
    • Hostility: Tracks how much a contact dislikes or is suspicious of you. High hostility can block opportunities or even lead to negative consequences.

    Ann

    Ann

Working girl. Street smart. Down on her luck, usually.

    • Role: Contact
    • Connections: Zane, Jax

    Notes

Ann can put you into contact with her pimp, Zane.

Raising your contact with Ann high enough (15 contact) and she will ask to move in with you. Doing so will put you into a war with Zane unless you pay him $10,000 for Ann, hunt him down and kill him first, or go to war with him.

Ann is friends with Jax. If you raise your Contact with both of them high enough and deal with Zane, you can arrange for Ann to move in with Jax. Doing so will give you regular amounts of good Credit with both of them.

At high levels of Contact, Ann will sometimes give you drugs or spikes.

    Event: "Ann Livid"

You can act informally as Ann's pimp after dealing with Zane. If you do, when she is beaten by johns, she will ask you to hunt them down and hurt them but not kill them. If you kill them, she will get Livid with you and not speak to you for a long while.

    Jax

    Jax

Reclusive type. Gets on well with machines.

    • Role: Contact
    • Location: Jax’s place, Cinci Slums
    • Connections: Ann

    General Notes

Jax can provide "Jax's Juice," a drug which reduces the Black Shakes.

At high levels of Contact, Jax will give you unsorted spikes and random street drugs (PCP, cocaine, etc.).

Jax is attracted to small and youthful-looking people and you can date him if you fit that criteria.

    Storyline Involvement

Meeting Jax is a key part of the "Chasing down the black shakes" storyline.

He is the instigator of the "Cyberchurch" storyline. Midway through that plot, he will disappear for 40-50 days, and you will lose access to his place during that time.

    Relationship with Ann

Jax is friends with Ann and will often ask after her during interactions. If you raise both of their contacts high enough and deal with Zane, you can arrange for them to move in with each other, which gives you regular good Credit with both of them.

    Double Blow

    Double Blow

Double Blow is not a full NPC yet, so pursuing high contact with him is not very useful.

    • Role: Contact
    • Location: The Projects
    • Connections: Raff

    Notes

Contact/Raff will send you into the Projects to meet Double Blow.

With a high enough Contact level, Double Blow can rent you a room in the Eastside stacks, giving you a living space in the Projects.

    Smith

    Smith

Owns the Ethanol Plant, out in the Cinci Bordertown.

    • Role: Contact / Business Owner
    • Location: Ethanol Plant, Cinci Bordertown

    Storyline: "A Fortune in Fuel"

Having a Contact level of 3 or more is generally necessary to finish the "A Fortune in Fuel" storyline. With a contact level of at least 6, you can sell the tanker to Smith; the money you receive is dependent on your contact level and skills.

    Interaction: Your Fuel Depot

If you build "Your Fuel Depot" and do not have a high Contact level with Smith, you will constantly generate low-level hostility with him. If you do have a high Contact level, you will still infrequently generate hostility, but it is much more manageable. Alternatively, if you sell him the fuel instead, you will gain a unique "Good Buddy" favor from him.

    General Notes

Smith will periodically disappear into the Badlands. You can still access the Ethanol Plant while he is away.

    You can date Smith.

    Dusty

    Dusty

Owns a Chop Shop out in the Cinci Bordertown. Okay kind of head.

    • Role: Contact / Chop Shop Owner
    • Location: Cinci Bordertown
    • Pronouns: Ze/Hir

    Notes

Dusty is not a fully implemented NPC yet, so raising hir Contact very high doesn't have a lot of use.

However, at Contact 12+, ze'll sell you a Muscle car for $7200, if you're looking for a fuel inefficient but very prestigious vehicle.

    Irene

    Irene

    The beauty or the beast?

    • Role: Contact
    • Faction: Jags
    • Description: A crazy, illiterate, mutant member of the Jags.

    Recruitment & Allegiance

You can save Irene from a gang war with the Modes through some difficult Skill/First Aid tests. If you are already allied with the Mods, befriending her will force you to spend Credits to maintain the alliance, break contact with Irene, or switch your allegiance to the Jags, which will generate a lot of Hostility from the Mods.

    Interactions & Rewards

Talking with Irene can randomly increase your Psychosis if it is low, or reliably reduce it if it is above 3. You can earn Credit with her for reducing your Psychosis this way. Irene can also provide Slums Rumors and information on Slums Supply and Demand.

She asks for a steady supply of Codeine or Tramadol, and may also request more and harder drugs. At high levels of Contact, Irene will gift you random drugs or spikes. She will repay favors with organs, a reduction in Jag hostility, spikes, or information on the Jags and the Mods.

    Romance

If the player character is female, Irene will aggressively pursue a romantic relationship. You can date Irene if you are female, and you cannot get her Contact rating past 12 without entering into a relationship with her.

    Conflicts

A Mode named Angelique will hire you to kill Irene after your Slums Reputation is 15 or more. This is in retaliation for Irene cutting off Angelique's feet.

    Developer's Note

The game's writer, Rob, has claimed that "this whole game could probably be renamed 'Irene Dating Simulator'".

    Angelique Blake

    Angelique

Two bodies, one mind. The more you get to know her, the more you believe it.

    • Role: Contact
    • Faction: Modes
    • Identities: Angelique (female), Blake (male)

    Notes

According to a Mode, the two people in Angelique are Angelique, the female, and Blake, the male. Blake's name is not actually Blake; it's just how the Modes refer to him. They constantly record themselves on spikes and watch each other's unedited footage.

Angelique accepts blank spikes and Slums Supply and Demand information as gifts to improve credit. Just talking to her can increase your knowledge of the Modes.

You can date Angelique (maybe), but you can't have deep conversations with her yet.

    Conflict with Irene

Angelique will hire you to kill Contact/Irene after you reach a Cinci Slums Reputation of 15 or more. You can choose to murder Irene (betraying her if she is a friendly contact) or tell her about the attempt. If you tell Irene, you will have the option to spend Credits to work with both of them.

Angelique is obsessed with Irene because Irene beat her in a street fight and cut off her feet.

    Miriam

    Miriam

A teacher at Covedale Night School. Could be kind of fun to know...

    • Role: Contact / Teacher
    • Location: Covedale Night School

    Notes

Miriam is hard to meet, but shows up sometimes when you mingle with the staff when visiting Covedale as a destination. You can't meet her by going directly to the school.

    You can't currently date Miriam.

    Willow

    Willow

She's well built, tall and curved. Ankle-high leather boots, one propped up against the wall behind her. Black leggings instead of the usual short skirt. Bald. Very white skin. Not white as in pale white, you realise. It wasn't so easy to tell in the half dark. White as in plastic white. White as in she's made of plastic.

    • Role: Contact / Prostitute
    • Location: Red Light District
    • Nature: Synthetic

    Meeting Willow

Meeting Willow requires Cinci Slums Familiarity 7, Need 4, visiting the Red light district late in the night, and a favorable result on the daily randomizer. Interacting with her costs $200 and 19 Credits. Having sex with her counts as cheating if you are not in an open relationship.

There is a way for characters who will not have sex with women to meet her.

    Willow as a Contact

Willow is a pretty dark character and will try to get you involved in murder. She's also touchy, paranoid, and resents working as a prostitute. She will probably resent the circumstances by which you met her, and will randomly add Hostility because of that. Even giving her gifts that she likes upsets her, because she becomes suspicious of you knowing her so well.

If you attempt to make Willow into a Contact, be prepared to spend a lot of Good Contact on reducing her Hostility.

    Zara

    Zara

You’ve seen this girl around before, you’re pretty sure. Maybe even seen her fight once or twice. A no hope, beaten up boxer, trying to get somewhere with a career. Failing. No different from all the rest around here. But at the same time, she stands out, somehow.

    • Role: Contact / Boxer
    • Location: Cinci Bordertown, Gym

    Notes

Zara is a down on her luck boxer trying to get her "big break." You can infrequently meet her by hanging around the Cinci Bordertown after dark, or find her at the gym while she is active or on her downtime.

She hasn't had many people to trust in her life, so she will ask for your help in her next fight. This interaction presents a number of choices and skill checks which can help influence the outcome.

After her fight, you'll have to wait about a week for her to become an active contact. Following this period, you can call her, or she might call you through the Life/Survival deck. Your initial interactions are limited until you build up a higher contact level, with opportunities to help her more in the future.

    Ferguson

    Ferguson

A detective. Cinci Police. The real police.

    • Role: Contact / Detective
    • Faction: Cinci Police

    Notes

Your character can meet Ferguson by co-operating with the police after illegally crossing the border from the Cinci Bordertown. Mutants can meet him after getting arrested and sent to the Detention Center.

He accepts Slums Supply and Demand information in exchange for money and Credit. You can get an informant job from him, but the job is currently unimplemented.

Above a Contact level of 9 or so, he will sometimes give you guns, Decent scotch, or other favors.

Ferguson frequently flies out to Philly to track gang contacts, which means he is unavailable for days or weeks at a time.

    King

    King

King is a cyberneticist working in the slums. Double prosthetic arms and a big personality.

    • Role: Contact / Cyberneticist
    •
    • Location: Luxury Condo, Cinci Slums
    •
    • Status: Not yet released

    General Notes

Like Jax, he's a bit of a shut-in, but he's intended to be a very viable alternative contact for Jax if you don't like the latter (although not quite the same, of course). He lives at the top of a semi-derelict, formerly luxury condo, and will sell or rent the penthouse suite to you. He's a dateable NPC.

    Implementation & Introduction

He's not released yet (this will be updated when he is). He'll be introduced through a new investigation story that's under development, called "Caught in a loop." He's also been featured in the game's promo art since the beginning, so it was high time to say something about him!

    Shae

    Shae

By day she's an aerospace engineer for Serisse Industries. By night, she's a motorbike mechanic extraordinaire.

    • Role: Contact / Mechanic / Engineer
    • Location: Shae’s Place, Airport
    • Affiliation: Serisse Industries
    • Status: Datable (Planned)

    General Notes & Workshop

Shae was on the drawing board for a long time before she made it into the game. Her combined workshop and living space is a prime hangout for bikers around Cinci, where you can buy new bikes and get them tricked up.

    Character & Beliefs

Beyond her shop, Shae is a full NPC with various interactions and... interesting views about mutants. A lot of thought went into balancing her opinions so that while she might be wrong overall, she still might have a good point or two, rather than being a simple bigot.

    Meeting Shae

You can meet her by talking to Shannon about bikes, but there's another way too if you don't have access to him.

    Future Content

There's plenty more content planned for her, including becoming a datable character. The related artwork for this already exists but is not yet implemented in the game.

    Marie

    Marie

A mysterious freelance assassin who favours the sniper rifle. She has a strong Texas drawl and a mean sense of humour.

    • Role: Contact / Freelance Assassin
    • Status: Partially implemented
    • Romance: Not romanceable

    General Notes & Personality

Marie has been in the game from the very beginning but still does not have a great deal of content, though she has one interaction that very few players have experienced. You're never quite sure if she's playing with you or not (hint: she is).

    Meeting Marie

You can meet her if your character has a fighter or watcher temperament.

    >Developer's Intent & Design

According to the developer, Marie was created to achieve several goals:

    • To show the player that there are much bigger fish out there; she's a shark to your minnow.
    • To add mystery, threat, and humour early on in the game.
    • To create more connections to the outside world, as she works for an unexpected organization.

    Appearance & Artwork

Her look is inspired by Ash from the film "Alien". Her steel teeth are an homage to Soviet female tank crews from WWII and are meant to be jarring and unusual, as she's not designed to look pretty for the player.

    Future Content

Marie is not fully implemented because there are big plans for her, including a major storyline that depends on other mission content being completed first. There are zero plans for her to be romanceable, though some one-off encounters or a pointless pursuit might be written.

    Alessandra

    Alessandra

A loyal slave to the coven founder, Rufus, a deadly killer for CinnTech, and a watchful Coven Enforcer.

    • Role: Contact / Coven Enforcer / CinnTech Assassin
    • Faction: Black Moon
    • Connections: Rufus (Coven Founder), CinnTech

    Acquiring as a Contact

If a vampire player refuses to join a coven, they can pay a credit fee to acquire Alessandra as a contact, navigating the dangerous politics of the night from a different angle.

    >Personality & Methods

Alessandra is intensely pragmatic and prioritizes the survival and secrecy of vampires above all else. She advises caution and discretion, warning that a vampire's life is doubly dangerous. While she understands the necessity of killing, she insists it should be done quietly. She admits to a need for emotional release, which she finds in torturing thralls who turn traitor.

    Loyalty and Morality

Her loyalty to Rufus is absolute, bordering on worship. She sees following his will as a way to simplify her own morality, freeing her from the burden of choosing right from wrong. She claims to have lines she won't cross, fixed rules for herself that Rufus has never asked her to break.

    Coven Directives

She operates under strict orders, killing for CinnTech when required but never for the coven itself, as that's a task for thralls. The one exception is dealing with vampire traitors, who are crucified as a brutal lesson to others.

    Zane

    Zane

Ann's pimp. You can work for him or get into a war with him.

    • Role: Contact / Pimp
    • Location: Cinci Slums
    • Connections: Ann

    Conflict with Ann & Zane

Allowing Ann to move in with you will inevitably cause a violent confrontation with Zane. If you choose to fight him, you should do so quickly, otherwise, he will hunt you down and attempt to kill you. Fighting Zane requires either a war in the streets or a hunt through the Cinci Slums for his safe house, where he can be ambushed and eliminated.

There is a variety of ways in which the conflict can be resolved, with different consequences and results.

    Befriending Zane

Being friends with Zane is tricky, as he is internally conflicted and paranoid. However, it can be rewarding, including the possibility of acquiring rent-free housing in the Slums.

    War with Zane (Spoilers)

Killing Zane can be very worthwhile if you are prepared. Depending on your choices, it can potentially allow you to acquire his goons, his pimping business, and his extensive set of stashes. His stashes include valuable loot such as multiple grenade launchers, cloned organs, drugs, and money.
